Criminal law

Effective and discreet defence at every stage of criminal proceedings, as well as representation of injured parties in Gdańsk, Gdynia and throughout the Tri-City area. We act fast, because in criminal cases every hour counts.

When should you contact a criminal defence attorney?

It is worth contacting a defence counsel immediately after arrest, a summons for questioning or the presentation of charges. The first actions in preparatory proceedings often determine the further course of the case, which is why the participation of an attorney already at the prosecution stage is of key importance for the defence line.

We represent suspects and defendants at the preparatory and trial stages, as well as injured parties and auxiliary prosecutors. With offices in Gdańsk and Gdynia, the firm provides assistance at police stations and prosecutor's offices throughout the Tri-City.

What does the defence look like in the case of pre-trial detention and preventive measures?

In the case of a motion for pre-trial detention, we act without delay, filing an interlocutory appeal and requesting more lenient preventive measures. Instead of detention, the court may apply police supervision, bail or a ban on leaving the country, and our task is to demonstrate that the aims of the proceedings can be achieved without deprivation of liberty.

  • interlocutory appeals against orders for pre-trial detention,
  • motions to lift or amend a preventive measure,
  • motions for police supervision, bail or surety by a trustworthy person,
  • participation in detention hearings.

What types of criminal cases do we handle?

We handle criminal, fiscal-penal and economic crime cases. Our experience covers both defence in proceedings concerning offences against property, life and health, and complex cases concerning the liability of managers and entrepreneurs.

  • defence of the suspect and the accused in preparatory and court proceedings,
  • representation of injured parties and auxiliary prosecutors,
  • fiscal criminal cases and economic offences,
  • preparing and pursuing appeals and cassation appeals.

How much does assistance in a criminal case cost?

The cost depends on the type of case, its degree of complexity, and the stage of the proceedings, and we set the fee individually before undertaking the defence. The first preliminary case analysis is free of charge, and a detailed consultation costs 350 zł per hour. We maintain full discretion and explain the terms of cooperation before it begins.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What to do after being detained by the police?
Exercise your right to refuse to give explanations and contact an attorney-at-law as soon as possible. You have the right to a defence counsel and to contact them, and any earlier explanations may affect the entire proceedings. Do not sign documents you do not understand without consulting a lawyer.
Can an attorney help at the prosecution stage, before the case reaches the court?
Yes, the participation of a defence counsel in preparatory proceedings is often decisive. The attorney-at-law takes part in interrogations, files motions for evidence and interlocutory appeals, and shapes the line of defence before the case reaches the court. Early action increases the chances of a favourable outcome.
How does an appeal differ from a cassation appeal?
An appeal is an ordinary means of challenging a non-final judgment of a court of first instance, filed as a rule within 14 days of service of the judgment with its statement of reasons. A cassation appeal is an extraordinary measure addressed to the Supreme Court against a final and binding decision, based on qualified breaches of the law. Both require a precise justification of the grounds raised.
Do you also represent victims, not only the accused?
Yes, we also represent injured parties and subsidiary prosecutors. We help to file a notice of an offence, pursue redress for the damage and actively participate in the trial. We take care to protect the interests of the injured party at every stage of the proceedings.
Do you handle criminal cases online throughout Poland?
Yes, we serve clients online throughout Poland, and in person in Gdańsk and Gdynia. Documents and the power of attorney can be provided remotely, and we maintain ongoing contact by telephone and email. We conduct hearings and procedural activities in accordance with the local jurisdiction of the court.
